One hour’s travel a day : a well-established dogma

We are supposed to devote an average of one hour a day to transport. This figure is generally held to have remained stable for several decades in developed countries.
Work carried out in two research units in Lyon and Lausanne sheds a more nuanced light on this situation. This suggests that some residents are prepared to devote an increasing share of their time to travel. The trend is explained by non-work activities.
